"Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood"

Acts 20:28

Pastor Ron Brown

Browns Bio

I was born in southern California and raised mostly in Olympia, Washington. I came to faith in Jesus Christ as a young child and committed my life to full-time ministry during my later years in High School. I graduated from Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland Oregon, where I met and married my lovely wife Stephanie. Following college we moved to Dallas, Texas where I attended Dallas Theological Seminary. Six and a half years later, with four young sons, we moved to New England where I directed the youth ministry at a Christian camp and conference center. After four wonderful years of ministry we moved to Edmond, Oklahoma where I served as Youth Minister at Faith Bible Church.

The experiences of ministry in New England as well as in Oklahoma at a great Bible teaching church served as excellent preparation for the role of pastor at Calvary Bible Church where Stephanie and I have been since 2003. In 2019 I had the privilege of studying for and recieving a Doctorate of Ministry in Expository Preaching through the Master’s Seminary in Southern California. Calvary Bible Church is a great family of committed followers of Christ, and a wonderful place to worship and serve the Lord.

          Johnie Michael

JohnieI grew up on a farm in northern Oklahoma the youngest of three sons in a farming and ranching family. I was raised in a Christian home, but didn’t give my life to Jesus until I was 25 years old. I attended Oklahoma State University and went into professional coaching for the next eight years of my life. After coaching stints at Oklahoma State University and U.S. Ski & Snowboard, I took a position with a local high school here in the Wood River valley and moved from Utah to Idaho. I vividly remember my first weekend after moving into the valley in 2017 not knowing anyone! I came to church here at Calvary Bible on 4th of July Sunday and immediately knew this was the body of believers I wanted to serve and go through life with. Everyone was so friendly and warm to me, and Pastor Ron’s message that Sunday was on Philippians 4:6…very fitting to me at that moment! A couple of years later the Lord placed upon me a desire to be married. The Lord graciously brought my wife into my life during this time and we were married in the summer of 2022. Shortly after being married, Heidi and I moved to Colorado to begin what we thought was the next stage of our life together.

During our year in Colorado, the Lord worked on both of our hearts and began giving me a desire to move back to Idaho and pursue seminary training. After eight wonderful years of coaching, we took an opportunity to pursue full-time vocation ministry back here in Idaho with Calvary Bible Church. The Lord has also provided me the privilege of online seminary training through the Master’s Seminary in Southern California as part of the Mentor Model program. The people of Calvary Bible Church are the deepest family and friend relationships we have and we are so blessed to serve this body of believers!

My wife, BettyAnn, and I have been at Calvary Bible Church since 2006. I have served on the Board of Elders here since 2011. My goals for Calvary Bible Church are to glorify God in all His Holiness and present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who don't know Him. I can help do this in my capacity as an Elder through servant leadership and sound doctrinal teaching. I enjoy leading evening Bible studies and adult Sunday School classes. I have been the church treasurer for the past several years. I like to spend time road, mountain and tandem bike riding along with            attending as many of my six grandchildren's activities as possible.

My family and I have been attending Calvary Bible Church since the fall of 1999. I currently work for Blaine County School District as a Mathematics Teacher at Wood River High School. My wife, Susan, and I reside in Bellevue where we raise our six children. During the summers our family likes to explore the Wood River valley with either bikes or hiking. In the winters we like to ski at the resort and occasionally put the snow shoes to good use.
