Letter from the Elders: Reopening Guidelines

Thursday, May 14, 2020

Dear Calvary Bible Church Family,

Exactly two months ago on March 14th we sent out a notice that due to a confirmed case of COVID19 here in Blaine County we were canceling all gatherings at Calvary Bible Church until further notice. It’s hard to believe, but nine Sundays have passed without our physically gathering together for worship. This doesn’t mean that we haven’t continued to be the Church together in other ways. Phone calls, Zoom meetings, and live-streaming have been helpful tools in maintaining the ministries of CBC.

All that said, we are thankful to say that we will be meeting together here at the CBC campus this Sunday, May 17th for our worship service at 10:15am! For the time being there will be no Sunday School or Children’s Church and the nursery will be self-serve. In consideration of families with young children we will have a shorter worship service. For those not able to attend, the service will be live-streamed.

In order to gather as safely as possible and in compliance with the State of Idaho’s stages for reopening, the elders have assembled a protocol with guidelines for our assembling together. We recognize that to some this will seem excessive while to others it may appear lax. The division in our country over this very issue is huge and growing daily. This is where we need to remember that we are the body of Christ, and as such are called to a different standard. As Paul says in Philippians 2:3-4, “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.”

Thanks for your consideration in these matters. We are looking forward to seeing all of you who are able to attend and are confident that whether meeting physically or not our hearts and minds are together in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God Bless,

CBC Elders

Beginning May 1st, the state of Idaho is providing the following guidelines for places of worship as set in place by the President and Governor of Idaho: Stage ONE - Places of worship can open if they adhere to strict physical distancing, sanitation protocol, and any CDC guidance.

People who are vulnerable, as well as those who live in households with vulnerable members, are asked to stay home and use online streaming services.

People who are sick, have traveled to hot-spots, or have been potentially exposed to COVID-19 must stay home and use online streaming services.

Sanitation protocols will be followed. Hand sanitizer units will be available at the doors, door handles will be routinely wiped down, sanctuary seats will be sprayed with disinfectant after each service, and facilities will be cleaned systematically.

People will be asked to practice social distancing and follow the Governor's and President's recommendations for Houses of Worship. Specifically, we ask that:

  • Everyone use hand sanitizer when entering the building.
  • People refrain from shaking hands and other forms of personal contact.
  • Move directly from the foyer to the sanctuary upon entering the building.
  • Three chairs remain vacant between people other than family members.

Additional measures include the following:

  • Offering trays will be located on the back table in the sanctuary
  • Kitchen and Christian Ed wing to remain closed.
  • People are encouraged not to wander, but stay in place within the sanctuary unless going to the restroom.
  • Face masks are encouraged but not required.
  • There will be no Sunday School or Jr. Church at this time.
  • Nursery will be self serve.
